Para taekwondo will make its European Para Youth Games debut in Istanbul, joining judo as one of two martial arts to be featured on the programme.

It is also one of the youngest Paralympic sports having first entered at Tokyo 2020.

Governed by World Taekwondo, athletes with limb impairments and arm amputees compete in kyorugi.

Türkiye has its own place in the history of Para taekwondo having hosted the World Championships in Antalya in 2019 and the hosts of the 2025 European Para Youth Games are the winners of seven Paralympic medals so far.

Para taekwondoin from Great Britain, Azerbaijan and Denmark have also taken early places in the top 10 of the all-time medals table for the sport since 2020.
